I guess M stands for Monday? I love M but I never get to make it because Monday is the only day I get to spend quality time with my dog, Reggie. Instead, I sent my girls from Chicago (2) there because I knew they'd have fun. Later, I texted Mike to ask him what I was missing and he sent me the list of songs he had just played:

Oh bronx its shaka! Darkroom rocked that night! we brought The institubes crew there and I think we were the last to leave. Wouldve better with u there tho.took a bunch of pics (I gotta show you) and para one documented some of the craziness on his video camera for his video collage of the tour. Thanks for the recom. Anita’s right; I didn’t even think of the coincidental move-in of NYU students. Bouncers are probably having a field day because of all the fresh meat. Or fresh-(man)-meat.
(Side note: that’s meant to read “freshman meat”, not “fresh man-meat,” though I’m sure both parties were present.)
If I were tutoring those girls, I would tell them to wear a push up bra and try to act “sophisticated” (i.e., less drunk than you actually are).

The strict carding is to be expected. Aside from all the laws against having fun (for people who don't drive home anyway), it's the first week of NYU classes so bars have been strict in response to expecting more police raids.
On another note, those girls went about it all wrong. To get your i.d. back you have to insist it really is you and maintain that position.

I can sum up this party with Young Surkin getting escorted out by the Grumpy Bartender for smoking and then let back in, and more than a handful of young girls dancing to songs old dance songs. and then of course the incident at the door when I arrived, the door guy confiscated three girls fake i.d.'s;
"Can, we like. have our i.d.'s back?"
"No."
"We won't come back here ever, I swear."
"No."
"Please. Like, like, like, like. like"

I didn't go to Darkroom but it's nice to see the music selection and that it wasn't the exact same music we always hear at these types of parties... granted, tracks like "Music is my Hot, Hot Sex" are inescapable (and totally danceable).
The songs are still hipster friendly but different enough with remixes of "D.A.N.C.E." and "Yea Yeah," "Boy From School" instead of "Over and Over"... oh, and 100% Pure Love!
I would have been shaking my shit had I been there, but anyone who has seen me recently knows I'm staying in bed with a head full of mucus. Gross.
